HEALTH OF SENIOR CITIZENS



          Health of senior citizens is one of part in senior citizens. There are on four major diseases that normally afflict senior citizens such as sleep apnea, dementia, parkinson's and alzheimer's. Senior citizens are susceptible to many types of diseases due to unhealthy lifestyles.

          Firstly about sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is an obtractive decrease of blood flow to the brain, then the brain elevates blood preassure and modulate these changes and prevent damages to itself. Based on studies, one in ten senior citizens suffer sleep apnea.

          Secondly about dementia. Dementia is a condition in the brain that makes it hard for a person to remember, learn and communicate. The disease can also change moods and personalities. The symptoms that we can get when we have dementia are memory loss of recent events, problems with language and difficulties in performing familiar tasks.

          Thirdly is parkinson's. Parkinson's is a condition that affect nerve cells or neurons in the brain to controls muscle movements. This symptom usually emerge at the age of 60. They could not do any works or tasks properly. It is more common in men than in women.

          Lastly is about alzheimer's. Alzheimer's is an irreversible, progressive brain disease. The disease can slowly destroy memory sometimes patient do not have the ability to carry out simple daily tasks. The symptom firstappear at the age of 60.
